Tatia

Tatia started as a bather/grooming assistant in a high-end grooming salon in NYC in 2018, where she was handling up to 20 dogs a day bathing, drying, brushing, trimming nails and learning from the professionals she worked with. “It can be a very demanding job but I wouldn’t do anything else. Even when I am tired, the dogs make me feel warm and happy and I can forget my problems and just focus on making them clean and beautiful.” Tatia loves grooming collies, doodles, wheatens, and water dogs — the fluffier, the better!

Indi

Indi started grooming in 2017 after graduating from the American Academy of Pet Grooming. When asked what made her fall in love with grooming Indi says “it’s seeing the change in the dog after they’ve been pampered. I love when they start wagging their tails on the table and they always seem to strut their stuff afterwards!” Indi loves working on breed-specific cuts and has spent her career perfecting the teddy bear style. When not grooming Indi divides her time between gaming and cooking new and healthy recipes.

Shannon

Shannon’s work in the pet industry began as a veterinary technician. She later graduated from grooming school with hopes of helping dogs in need of grooming as part of their health care, eventually finding her way to ALC. Her favorite aspect of grooming is “its transformative power, making a dog feel and look their best no matter the condition they come in.” Shannon’s favorite breeds to work with are poodle mixes. When not in the Spaw she can be found working on other art forms (painting, graphic design, etc) or going to the gym and getting outdoors.

What to Bring for Boarding

    1. Your pup, wearing a collar that can clip off easily (in case it gets tangled on anything) they can remain in for the duration of the stay.
    2. Any medications your dog takes or may need during the stay
    3. PRE-PORTIONED food/treats for the duration of the stay (+ one day in case of delays).

Optional: Comfort item that you’re not worried about being shared

Requirements

To ensure the safety and health of your dog and our other guests, we have the following requirements:

  • — Dogs must do well with other dogs and humans. If your dog has any history of aggression towards humans or other dogs, ALC is not the right fit for your pup as we do not separate our canine guests.
  • — Dogs must be four months of age or older and on course with all required vaccines. Any new clients must be under the age of 10

  • – Dogs must be spayed or neutered by 7 months of age.
  • — Dogs must be vaccinated for rabies, distemper, parvo, parainfluenza, and hepatitis, (DHPP, DA2P, or equivalent) and bordetella. The canine influenza vaccination (H3N2 & H3N8) is recommended, but not yet required.
  • — Dogs should be in good health. Upon admission, all dogs must be free from any communicable conditions including fleas and ticks. All dogs should be using flea/tick preventative(s).
  • — Dogs attending daycare services must meet a minimum of three days per month to maintain status as an active client.
  • — Dogs must have been in your care for at least three weeks prior to attending daycare/boarding.
  • – A behavior evaluation must be completed at least three days prior to boarding
  • — Dogs must be brought to ALC with a collar that clips off easily (no over-the-head collars or buckles) that they can wear for the duration of their stay.
  • – A local emergency contact must be left for the duration of all boarding stays. Read the full policy on this.
  • – Holiday boarding (Christmas/New Year’s, Thanksgiving, July 4th, etc.) is only available for pups who attend daycare or boarding at least 3 times a month throughout the year.

Job – Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to help in our shop with taking care of the dogs, playing with them, feeding them as needed, going on walks as needed and giving them plenty of cuddles. This internship is an excellent way to learn more about dogs and their mannerisms, practice handling and get to know this type of business — plus we think animals teach you all types of other important life lessons. You will also have the potential to help with marketing, customer relations, business transactions, and store organization, depending on your area of interest. Though the internship is unpaid, there are areas of potential opportunity for the right person to pick up paid contract work (such as dog walking or cat care), or to stay on as a longer-term paid employee after the internship period is complete.

Responsibilities
— Watching over daycare dogs to ensure their safety, health, and happiness. This includes understanding the temperament of each dog in your care; preventing scuffles or separating dogs that may not get along; playing with them; giving dogs a break as needed when they’re tired or annoyed; taking them for bathroom breaks in our yard and following processes to ensure all dogs have a chance to go on a regular, rotating basis
— Assisting dog groomers, storefront staff as needed. This may include helping to hold a dog while they get their nails clipped or taking a dog for a walk. Storefront projects may including distributing promotional materials, assisting a customer, or answering a phone call.

Requirements
– Must be at least 17 years of age and enrolled in high school or college (or pursuing course work in the future)
– Must have some experience with animals, whether from owning your own dog or volunteering with animals in the past
– Must be able to work a set schedule most weekdays and/or weekends. We can work around your availability but must be able to determine your ongoing shifts once you’ve been hired.
– Must have reliable means of getting to our facility each work day — applicants who live within 30 minutes by train are preferred
– Must be conscientious and responsible about showing up on time, doing assigned work, communicating with us when problems or issues arise.

Please email hi@animallovingcare.com with a note on why you’d like to volunteer and any relevant experience.

Job – Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Animal care business with an established dog walking service seeks a new pack member for our dog walking team. We will start you with a small, existing clientele and build up over time as your handling and experience proves you to be a good fit. Our walkers are paid for each dog they walk — we don’t give you a base hourly payment and put 10 dogs on each arm… we keep things as safe as possible by maxing out at 4 dogs to a pack. We are looking to hire someone who can put love, care and detailed attention into every pet interaction. This person should be eager to grow with the company by committing to a minimum of one year of employment. Further, the ideal candidate will:

– Have experience handling dogs, whether from working for another dog walking company, daycare or boarding service. We will also consider those who have experience by personal dog ownership or by way of family dogs IF you have spent extensive time around them and are comfortable with all breeds and sizes. MUST be an animal lover!

– Have a flexible schedule Monday through Friday between 10 AM – 5 PM and occasional weekends with notice

– Own a smartphone and be comfortable working independently

– Be detail-oriented, organized, and TIMELY!

– Have an enthusiastic, go-getter attitude. We want people who are excited to spend their day with dogs!

– Be interested and motivated to help us grow the dog walking service in both current and expanded areas. Social media experience a plus!

– Be in good physical shape (you’ll be on your feet most of the day!)

– Live within 45 minutes of our Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn location

Please email with a note explaining why you’re interested in this job, what your experience with dogs is, location, salary requirements (if any), and what your availability is like. Include a resume. THOSE WITHOUT THIS INFO WILL BE DELETED!!
